A "final" judgment in a family law action does not necessarily mark the end of litigation between the parties. A good many orders are modifiable and, quite often, are modified long after the judgment's finality.

Kinsey Law Offices has been handling cases involving modification of family law judgments and orders since 1976 including, but not limited to, the following:

General Procedural Outline:

Motions for modification of orders are generally made by way of an "Order To Show Cause" in the court where the judgment or order being modifiec was originally made.

The motion is filed with the court and a hearing is set about a month later. The responding party must be timely served.

Any modification is retroactive to the date of filing.
